[edit] Hello fellow Think NOLA bloggers and wiki contributors!
I'm Daisy Pignetti aka NOLADaisy or Doctor Daisy. I switched my screen name to "doctor" when I began my PhD program in Rhetoric and Composition in 2003, but my heart will always be in NOLA even though my parents now live in Picayune, MS after our home of 30 years was taken by the London Canal breech.
I was born at Touro in 1975, attended St. Raphael the Archangel school on Elysian Fields, the Academy of the Holy Angels in the 9th Ward, and Loyola New Orleans for college. I moved to Boston for 2 years to puruse my MA in Composition and Linguistics, but still managed to write many papers on the Yat dialect while I was there...I had to keep NOLA in my studies!
Once I completed my MA, I returned to NOLA and taught at Xavier University for 3 years while at the same time performing at Le Petit Theatre, Rivertown Repertory Theatre, Tulane Summer Lyric and dancing with the Loyola Ballet and the Komenka Ethnic Dance Ensemble.
You can read about my blogging beginnings at Hypertextual Happenstance or check my permanent blog Doctor Daisy for recent activity and how I plan to bring NOLA back into my academic work by analyzing online responses to Katrina. Obviously click on the months of August and September for more exigent Katrina-related posts.
I look forward to putting faces to blogs and discussing how new media is shaping our city's future in August.
