  • Add commas between the sections on the main page. Look how nice that is on the main page of Arborwiki.
  • How about a little star that we can put next to those items on the front page that have a decent sized article in them.

  • Wikipedia uses plurals for categories when it can. When you browse the categories, you'll notice that purals are used where they make sense. What should we use? I switched to purals after I labled something "Mailing List" because there were also forums for that neighborhood's page. "Mailing List or Forum" looked odd, and "Mailing Lists or Forums" seemed best.

  • Adopt multiple levels of categories.
  • Import the Wikepedia icons for categories.

  • Learn how to use the Mediawiki category system.
  • Learn how to use the Mediawiki portal system, create a neighborhoods portal.
  • Put something of substance in the Help page.
  • Put something of substance in the Community portal.

Wiki can be used to create ad hoc databases. Simply create a page for each entry in the database, or if there are a great many entries, you can create a directory format. You can get a database started by suggesting a database to alan@thinknola.com. Send me info and I'll put it in place.
