Second Wind - Renewing Business for Greater New Orleans

SECOND WIND is about local small businesses finally helping ourselves - and helping Greater New Orleans, too. We are, after all, the backbone of this city's economy, the foundation of its tourism, and in many cases the anchors of its neighborhoods. Whether we had been operating for generations or only just opened before Hurricane Katrina hit, we are all committed to renewing New Orleans. We need to ensure New Orleans and Louisiana are committed to us.

SECOND WIND is about giving a united voice to the thousands of small businesses across the city. In our numbers, our diversity and our experience, there is real strength. We will exercise that strength and make ourselves heard: about creating a small business grant program, about reforming FEMA and SBA programs, about fair insurance settlements, about infrastructure repair that works for residents and businesses alike, about commercial debt restructuring, about proactive marketing and networking to help us not only come back, but come back stronger than ever.

SECOND WIND is about coming together to reach these common goals. Whether from the French Quarter or New Orleans East, from mid-city or Lakeview, we suffered a common injury and are struggling with common problems. The brighest future for each of us is a stronger economy for all of us - and that can only be achieved together.

SECOND WIND is new, but already strong and growing fast.
