There are ten public housing developments in New Orleans.

C.J. Peete, also known as Magnolia, is a development in Central City between Louisiana, Washington, Magnolia and LaSalle Streets. The first construction occurred during the 1940s. There was an expansion during the 1950s, so that the complex at one point held 1400 units. Before Katrina, the later development had been demolished. In December of 2007, City Council approved the demolition of the remaining housing.

The B.W. Cooper development, also known as Calliope, is another in Central City, bordered by Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Earhart Blvd, S. Dergenois St., and S. Prieur St. This was also a two-phase development. The first section was completed by the early 1940s and the second phase was built in the mid 1950s. Since Hurricane Katrina, a small portion of the homes have been reopened to residents. In December of 2007, demolitions began on the second phase development.
