[edit] First-Hand Accounts

The goal of the Ordinance Workshop is to introduce collaboration by teaching people through the examples of others. The Ordinance Workshop will not present the participants with a strategy for pushing legislation, rather it will seek to develop presentations by citizens who've worked closely with City Council developing ordinances.

The first-hand accounts will be presented through speakers and video segments. The video segments will display the issue that was addressed by the ordinance and tell the story of it's development. As often as possible, a person who was involved in the development of the ordinance will be available to follow up with their reflections and answer questions of participants.

The choice of the ordinance to feature will be only be limited to ordinances that were introduced after August 29th, 2007. The featured ordinances will be chosen to illustrate different collaboration and negotiation issues, such as unintended side effects, outreach and coalition building, combining of efforts, etc.
