Neighborhood Meetups
From New Orleans Wiki
Think New Orleans now hosts Neighborhood Meetups. These events employ the principles of "Open Space". The meetups are not the painfully dull meetings. You will not be subjected to presentation, faciliation. You'll get more than three minutes if need be.
[edit] Next Meetup
If you will be attending this Saturday's Meetup please RSVP to me and include a brief bio describing your work and contribution in the community. This save some time on introductions as well as help us all understanding the specific talent and experience each of us will bring to the table.
Many thanks for your help in moving our city forward, Laureen Lentz
When: Saturday, Feb. 3rd., 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Where: Carrollton United Methodist Church, 921 South Carrollton Avenue http://www.gbgm-umc.org/neworleansumc .
[edit] How It Works
We get together and start out with a brief introduction name, neighborhood and what you did last week. Then we write topics on a dry-erase board. These are drawn peoples current activities and concerns. We then choose which topics interest the most, and whoever can speak to the topics speaks to the topics.
People are able to break off and talk among themselves, if the feel that they have an action item or details that they need to share.
The meetup wraps up early, but the space is available for an additional hour, where people can continue to use the dry-erase boards, take notes or exchange information.
[edit] Follow Through
People who participate in a meetup are welcome to continue their conversations online.
