[edit] Criteria For Eligibility

This information is excerpted from the Historic Building Recovery Grant Program Application.

  • Building must be at least 50 years old to qualify for this program.
  • National Register of Historic Places Status: To qualify, buildings must fit within one of the following National Register of Historic Places categories: BUILDINGS THAT DO NOT FALL WITHIN ONE OF THE CATEGORIES BELOW WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR A HISTORIC BUILDING RECOVERY GRANT.
    1. Individually listed on the National Register;
    2. Individually eligible for the National Register, as determined by the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO);
    3. A historic building (as determined by the SHPO) in a National Register historic district;
    4. A historic building (as determined by the SHPO) within a district being officially treated as eligible for the National Register by mutual agreement of the SHPO and FEMA; or
    5. A historic building (as determined by the SHPO) in a historic district that is being proposed by the SHPO or FEMA to be treated as eligible for the National Register.

Applications must be received by December 15, 2006.

October 15, 2006 Materials available for historic building grants program.
October 2006 Historic building grants advertising and public meetings underway, applications

being distributed.

December 15, 2006 Deadline for all completed historic building grants applications to be received by the SHPO.
January 22, 2007 Panels finish ranking and tabulating all historic building grants applications.
January 31, 2007 First historic building grant agreements signed; construction begins.
September 15, 2008 Deadline for full completion of all historic building grant projects.
