Geek Dinner 3

From New Orleans Wiki

Yes. You are invited to the third New Orleans Geek Dinner on Saturday, March 31, 2007. If you have found this page, you are geek enough. You have access to a computer in post-Katrina New Orleans. That's hard core!

dangerblond says: We’ve had two Geek Dinners before and they’ve been great fun and great food. The first one was on Esplanade in the Quarter, and the second was at Loki’s post-apocalyptic gutted first floor on Claiborne. Now it’s time to push the envelope and head to the not-quite-burbs - Faux Metairie, as my neighbor calls it. Bloggers and blog readers are invited. If you are geek enough to read this paragraph, you are geek enough to come. If you don’t want to cook, we can suggest something for you to bring. This time we have special guests, Scout Prime and a group of New Orleans fans from First Draft. They are going to be here gutting houses and making themselves useful, so we’re going to throw on a feed for them.

If you'd like to help gut earlier that day, get in touch with Ray (ragicali at yahoo dot com) and he'll get you the form you need to fill out for ACORN. No word on which neighborhood they'll be in, but work is generally from 7:30am to 2:30pm, and all equipment will be provided.

  • What: New Orleans Geek Dinner III: With A Vengeance
  • When: Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 7:00 pm.
  • Where: Casa dangerblond, Faux Metairie, New Orleans, LA

[edit] May Attend

  • Editor B & Xy will be at a wedding earlier, but we may be able to come late
  • Dambala will most likely be there....what to bring? I can't cook. I can drink! (Dangerblond says: Dambala, can you bring a case of beer? Damabala says: Abita is good? any prefs.? Dangerblond says: Abita or Dixie or both would be great. Friends don't let friends drink Anheuser-Busch or Molson-Coors brands.) (I'm a sinner: GG drinks Red Dog and Planck Road.)
  • slate will make every attempt to square away the five person schedule here at home. What can I bring that doesn't require my cooking? It will probably be me, my husband and the grandson. (Dangerblond says: Slate, can you pick up something from one of the joints in your neighborhood?) (Ashley says: Dangerblond, quit asking Slate to bring you joints on a public forum.)(I'll go talk to King Roger's Seafood up the block and see what they might have for us. I know all of you make your own gumbo, but these fine folks have a certificate on the wall saying theirs was voted Best Gumbo--they'll happily show it to you every single time you go there! Maybe I'll bring some of that and a copy of their certificate. Oh, and Ashley, I suppose I could head down to Frenchman Street or I could just walk my neighborhood and follow my nose. <g>) (King Roger's stuff is good, but not as awesome as Moi's. <giggles> For the other, I'll just take a walk and see some friends.))

  • Tim The Precious Wife and I are planning to attend. Will know for sure next week. Looking forward to seeing everyone, discussing progress in the city (or lack thereof), hearing stories of Mardi Gras, and strategizing how we bloggers can take over the world beyond the blogosphere. And of course, I'm hoping there will a toast to Pi... 8-)
  • jeffrey Yup.. leaning t'wards it. Depends on how tired Menckles is after like a thousand consecutive days of work. If I make it, I'll bring something terribly unhealthy. Comment from Adrastos: Unhealthy? Like your attitude? he asks whilst ducking. TM says yay for unhealthy....anything fried and slathered in sauce.
