[edit] The Dinner
The original New Orleans Geek Dinner postings can tell you more about this event, and you can read about it, and ask questions, leave comments at the Think New Orleans weblog.
New Orleans Geek Dinner II: The Sequel is being hosted and sponsored by 504 Data.Com, Loki's newly formed datacom company. Voice and data infrastructure installations, move/add/change orders, and general computer services including repairs, special order systems. Your Voice and Data Specialists in Post Katrina New Orleans!
Let's start this Geek Dinner by creating a bullet list of people that we want to attend, and a bullet list of people that have RSVP'd.
- What: New Orleans Geek Dinner II: The Sequel
- When: Saturday, August 19th, 2006 at 7:00 pm.
- Where: 4617 S.Claiborne Ave, Broadmoor, New Orleans, LA
Broadmoor, yet another neighborhood fighting for survival, good place for a gathering! Come to the ruins of Loki's Pre-K diggs for a gathering of digitally minded. The now spartan (but cleaned and de-molded) apartment is attached to a traditional FEMA Trailer, a back yard where grilling will commence, and a lovely conversation porch. In addition the Wi-Fi, music, bug spray, and grill have been brought online courtesy of 504 Data.Com.
In case of apocalypse come prepared for analog Geekery as well. A variety of strange and geekish card games are available, as is good old fashioned conversation and non digital interaction (ray: What, no fingers?).
What qualifies for geek in The Crescent City? Computer programmers, bloggers, VCR programmers, ham radio operators, those that can know where to locate the "any" key, or anyone who has a functional "electronic" mail address (the thing with the swirily 'a').
I am in need of a few extra hands to prep the site for people. I will be over there thurs day/evening, and fri evening. If anyone can lend a hand it would really really help! Nothing too outrageous, we just need to move a lot of stuff. I'll even buy beer... Contact me via email humidcity at gmail dot com, I will be checking it periodically each day. If we all chip in we can make this one to remember!

- crewcial! - I'll be at the ANTIGRAVITY Alternative Media Expo as well, but if I can, I'll drop by. It sounds interesting and I can hijack someone's powerbook to upload photos from the expo to my flickr page. That only seems fair, right? (Loki says "Flickr Uploads will be no problem, although most of the laptops there will be PCs")
- Mark Folse - I think I"m out, unless it's a late drop by. My wife said something about "isnt' it our anniversary" and some other stuff I missed 'cause I wasn't listening. ; ) Maybe I could stop by late with a doggie bag from Bacco's or Irene's.
