East Carrollton is one of 73 New Orleans neighborhoods. It is bordered to the north by Spruce Street, to the south by St. Charles Avenue, the the east by Lowerline Street, and to the west by S. Carrolton Avenue. It is located in Uptown New Orleans, along the western end of St. Charles Avenue. It is near Tulane and Loyola Universities. The neighborhood itself contains residential as well as commercial areas.

East Carrollton was once part of the city of Carrollton. The main street of this city was Carrollton Avenue. The Carrollton city hall sits were St.Charles meets Carrollton. It is currently a school. 2nd Street, now Maple Street along with Oak street served as the Carrollton neighborhoods commerical centers.

East Carrollton is a neighborhood comprised if single family residences, multifamily residences, as well as commercial uses. THe architectural style spans from the neo-clssical Audobon institute school to Arts and Crafts style houses to modern developments. The roads through this neighborhood are not well maintianed, but all the yards are. There is not much foot traffic outside the Maple Street area, but there is a active community.

Maple Street from Lowerline to Carrollton serves as the main business center of the neighborhood. There are numerous restuarants and shops linging the streets. This includes a coffee shop of local nature, the PJ's chain, to the ever present Starbucks built in a modernist style that manages to fit into the neighborhood. There is even a tea shop, which is a rarity. There are a few clothing shops, as well as oddity shops. There is an art supply store as well as a laundramat/middle eastern cusine restuarant. There are several restaurants and bars on this stretch of road.
