It does indeed seem that way. It feels as through they are doing everything they can to change the population of the city.

Because the city will expand to it's pre-flood size. It is well on it's way. There are a lot of uncertainties, but the city has flooded before and recovered before.

Recently, FEMA made $4,000 available for people to move ack to New Orleans, but to move only. You couldn't use that money towards first months rent. We need to try to assemble a package of aid from the different pots and give people a set of numbers to call to come back.

But, here's the city, knocking down historic homes, leaving the truly totaled homes to molder. If only I know the real method the city used to determine if a house belongs on the demolition list. As it stands, until they can show evidence of their incompetence, I am going to assume that it is malice.

I hope and pray that God will touch the people hearts, open their eyes and let them see this is a unfair act, and it will come back and haunt them. This is not fair. The program they should be focusing on and spendig the money on such as getting people back into the city, thy are not. It seems to me they don't want as many people to live in New Orleans.

[...] Today is the deadline to speak with your assessor about your assessments. City Hall was full. I came in through the back door to go to City Council chambers for the special session on the list of arbitrary homes that city had begun to demolish. I walked in. It was crowded. I walked through the security portal, causing it to bleat. There was no screening on the back door, but across from me people where emptying their pockets and opening their bags as they came in through the front door. [...]

[...] Saw the K-Ville trailer. It’s okay. The true stories of Katrina make for a powerful backdrop. How nice it would be if it were to be as bold and honest as “The Wire”: Time magazine is going to run three more stories in advance of the 2nd anniversary. The first one was excellent about the Army Corps of Engineers, The Threatening Storm. The Wall Street Journal stippled Karen Gadbois for a story on the Imminent Danger Demolition List The Associated Press also did a story on the Imminent Danger Demolition List. Both of them got the story correct. No notifications. I much prefer journalists to pundits. Tags: Imminent Danger Demolition List, Think New Orleans [...]

This is interesting,FEMA will pay to demolish our property!I was told by the city that if my house is demolished then I will have to pay the city.So I wonder which is it.I might just be one of the lucky one's all i will lose is the money I spent to gut it,keep the grass cut,and put on a new roof.I will not do one more thing to that house except cut the grass till I have a written response from the city that it will not be torn down.

It's awful. Tomorrow can we all get digging on who stands to benefit for all this demolition. Contracts I say! Contracts! Who has the contracts? They want to knock down our homes in the night to reap the FEMA contracts. Who has the contracts?

We need to take City Hall to task for this crap.

Betts & I are letting our contractors use our property in order to make sure nothing happens to our home during it's repair.

If I catch ANY inkling that the Mayor and his money-pig minions are going to start tearing homes down within Sugar Hill, there's going to be on major attack on my part.
