Modeling New Orleans on the Inland Empire
New development in the Inland Empire by Doc Searls.
BlakelyVille
This link was sitting around my inbox for a long time. It is the website for Dos Lagos. This is the development that recovery czar Ed Blakely kept insisting that he was building with a billion dollars of his own money when I first met him. I met him when he spoke to a group in East New Orleans. I’m not sure what his real involvement is; I’ve learned not to trust his compulsive resume inflation.
Yet, he referred to Dos Lagos twice when we were getting to know him. At this meeting and during the final AmericaSpeaks laser light show. He hasn’t mentioned it much since.
Wildlife Transportation Corridor
The website is dreadfully dull. With vague descriptions of the housing stock and platitudes like the following.
Dos Lagos and SE Corporation proudly support the commitment and effort of important organizations that help make the Inland Empire a great place to live and work.
My favorite feature is a creek that may someday attract wildlife. For now it is an ecological disaster.
The 10,000 Foot View
Enjoy the satellite view of Dos Lagos. The lunar landscape to the north is the future site of the Promenade at Dos Lagos.
I wonder what lessons from Dos Lagos will be applied to New Orleans? Someone please ask Doctor Blakely the next time he’s in town. Our town, that is; New Orleans.

This is 200 McMansions in the middle of nowhere, and I haven’t heard about a Blakely sighting or activity from his office in several months. Czar? What Czar? Someone should start a Blakely page a la http://www.wheresnagin.com and we will track his mileage and even backlog where he’s been all summer so we can figure out what happened to the cranes not in our skyline.
