Gentilly Girl Dot Com
Think New Orleans is going to roll out a new weblog for Gentilly Girl at gentillygirl.com. This is going to be the latest WordPress weblog that I’ve developed for civic blogging efforts.
Here’s how it’s going to go.
I’m going to deploy a staid template, but a nice one. Morwen can start learning how to use the software.
New weblogs will start out with a placeholder template until traffic is up to around 25 a day. This is to keep me from deploying a theme, only to have someone lose interest in their weblog. Adapting a WordPress theme takes hours. Even though there a lot of open WordPress themes available, they are not ready to go with event calenders, tagging, Podcasting, photo albums, email subscriptions, asides, sticky posts, statistics, etc. A wee bit of traffic shows a commitment to the effort.
Gentilly Girl is up and running, and I’m ready to answer any questions.

It can say anything. Please don’t worry about the content. We’re Kinderbloggin!
Alan,
Done and done. Been playing around the Dashboard trying to figure this all out. (Definitely not like Blogger! LOL) Most makes sense to me.
Is there a way to import links from Blogger?
You mean you link roll or blog roll? The list of links to other sites in your sidebar? If Blogger has an option to export as OPML then yes. I’ll put this in my work queue.
Alan,
I tried to import my links from my sidebar from Thoughts of the Dark Rose onto my first WordPress Blog from Blogger, and it didn’t take. Tried it again for GentillyGirl, and it didn’t work either. I don’t think Blogger supports OPML. (Or I could just be an idiot when it comes to this.)
Wound up entering all my links from Dark Rose onto Gentilly Girl by hand.
Today I’m going to start on catagorizing the links as to make things easier to navigate for a visitor. (If the coming storms don’t knock out my power today.)
Morwen – Stupid blogger does not store your links as data. They are simply markup in your template. This is a quick programming project to turn them into that OPML file that I talked about. Then I can import them. This goes in my work queue after Humid City.
I’m getting backed up.
