Think New Orleans

Constant Contact

May 31st, 2006

I created a mailing list for Think New Orleans at Constant Contact. This is because I’m not quite satisifed with FeedBlitz. It sends a digest of all the posts from the web site in the morning. It doesn’t allow a person to create separate categories, so that subscribers can focus on what they want.

I’d like to have a weekly newsletter. That is why I’m going to use Constant Contact. I’ll post the weekly newsletter here on the web site as well, but I do want it to go out via email to a larger list of people that have opted to receive occasional updates.

I’d also need the ability to send people updates immediately, for web publishing workshops, if there is a change in time or venue.

These are all features that are important for the web publishing platform that I’ve developed for the web publshing workshops. Until I develop a solution that can be rolled into the existing WordPress solution, I’m going to use Constant Contact, to learn how to use email newsletters effectively.

I have a solution sketched out for an advanced email newsletter component for the web publishing platform. If time permits programming, I’m going to jump on it. If not, I’ll have a workshop on Constant Contact.
