Citizen’s Road Home
The Citizen’s Road Home Action Team (CHAT) is a newly formed organization. It’s an organization dedicated to insuring that homeowners receive maximum legal benefits to rebuild and recover, in the quickest and fairest process.
Members of CHAT have drafted a list of recommendations, which I’ve posted on the New Orleans Wiki, under the Road Home Program page. You can read through those recommendations, and return here if you have something you’d like to say.
We have already engaged representatives of the Louisiana Recovery Authority, presenting them with the recommendations, and communicating our concerns about the Road Home Program. They are are listening to requests for clarifications and expressing a desire to implement the most generous awards to individual homeowners. The consulting firm administering the program, ICF Consulting, has not yet met those goals.
We have the attention of Governor Blanco’s office, so if you have concerns about the Road Home Program, or questions, please leave them in the comments of this post, or send email to roadhome@thinknola.com.

[...] Recently a new group has formed to address issues of inequity with the Road Home Program. Alan at Think New Orleans has written a post about as well as working with this group on communication and outreach. Even if you think you do not qualify for Road Home money this program affects you. It will set a standard of recovery and it is important that we all keep our eyes on this.No Tags [...]
The Road Home Program is a “snow job.” While all the safegaurds are in place to prevent fraud waste and abuse, people must have forgotten that the very people that created the Road Program, are the people that have been targeted in the Past for fraud. It was Louisiana’s politicians that are known the world over for corruption; not you average joe in the streets! Why do you think that they do not want to just give us the money? Why do you think that they are putting all these obstacles in place to make it more difficult for the citizens of Louisiana to receive the grant money?
